Agreement to Terms
Chào: Learn Vietnamese ("Chào" or "the App") is owned and operated by Sugoi Group LLC ("Sugoi Group," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
License
Sugoi Group LLC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any iPhone, iPad, or Android device that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. Your use of the App is also subject to the terms of the store you got it from: the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (opens in new tab) for the App Store, or the Google Play Terms of Service for Google Play.
The Service
Chào teaches Vietnamese through lessons, speaking and tone practice, reviews, stories, AI practice and games. We may change, add or remove course content and features over time.
Free Use and Chào Premium
Chào is free to download. Unit 1 is free, speaking included, with a daily limit on AI practice. Chào Premium unlocks all units and stories, more AI practice, unlimited hearts and streak freezes. Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly, and on the App Store also a family yearly plan) or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
- Price: The price is shown in the App and in the store before you buy. It may vary by region and may change for future periods; the store tells you before a price increase applies to your subscription.
- Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase, or, if your plan starts with a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Free trial: The yearly plans may start with a free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged. If you buy a subscription during a trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel or change plans: On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Upgrades and downgrades between plans follow the store's rules.
- Family plan: On the App Store, the family yearly plan can be shared with up to 5 family members through Apple Family Sharing. Apple's Family Sharing rules apply.
- Lifetime purchase: The lifetime purchase is not a subscription. It does not renew, and you are never billed for it again.
- Restoring: You can restore your purchase on another device signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account with "Restore Purchases." Purchases made on the App Store and on Google Play are separate and do not carry over between the two.
- Refunds: Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
Invites and Free Premium Weeks
Invite codes are for new learners in their first 14 days, one code per learner. When a new learner uses your code, you both get a free week of Premium. Free Premium weeks have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and we may remove weeks earned by abuse.
Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe. Display names must not be offensive, misleading, or impersonate another person. We may change or remove a display name that breaks these rules.
AI Practice
"Talk with locals" and "Explain my answer" use an AI model. Its replies can contain mistakes, so check anything important with a person. Do not enter personal or sensitive details in AI practice. AI practice has a daily limit, which is higher with Premium.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Cheat in leagues, for example by automating lessons or abusing bugs
- Harass other learners, or try to get their personal data
- Attempt to access our server or other learners' accounts without permission
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its functionality
Language Content
We aim for accurate, natural Vietnamese. Vietnamese varies by region and context, and speech recognition can mishear words, so the App's feedback is a learning aid, not an official assessment.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Sugoi Group LLC be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for Chào Premium in the 12 months before the claim.
Intellectual Property
The App, including its course content, audio, design, code, graphics, the Trâu character, logos, and all related intellectual property, is owned by Sugoi Group LLC and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or other brand features.
Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account or your license to use the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
